ORION Hauled for the Season

Yesterday, with help from my sister Rebecca, I hauled ORION out of the water. I took off the mainsail and boom while she was still on the mooring, then I beached her at my parents’ beach so Rebecca could help me lower the mast. Once the mast was off, I motored ORION over to the Mago Point boat launch where Rebecca met me with my car. It was peak high tide with very little wind, and it was a very easy haul-out. We then brought ORION back to the house where I pressure-washed her before I brought her home to Northford.

Everything went extremely smoothly, and I’m happy to have her safe on the hard before the weather gets too cold and blustery. She has a new shed to live in for the winter - more on that later. For now, although I didn’t go for as many overnight trips as I would have liked, I’m very happy with how this past sailing season went. I’m already looking forward to the next season. Launch date: April 19th, 2022!
