This past Saturday, my wife Liz and I got ORION ready for Halloween - something we have never done before, but it gave me the chance to step the mast again to see how I can improve on my setup. I actually tried to step it the night before, but the wind was howling so fiercely, I was afraid I would lose control of it, so I aborted my attempt and waited until it was a lot calmer the following day.
It felt a little strange to rig ORION as if I were launching her, but we were happy to add all sorts of spooky skeletons including one in an improvised crow’s nest I screwed to the top of my mast launching cradle! We also made a “cannon” out of a rectangular cardboard tube we could “shoot” (slide) candy down to waiting trick-or-treaters. It was a big hit, and two little girls dressed as princesses from down the street were particularly enthralled with our decorations which made it all worth it.
