Unique Photos of ORION
It was late afternoon, and the dark clouds with the setting sun made some remarkable images which I tried to capture.
ORION Officially Launched
It was pouring rain with wind whipping around 25 knots, but I managed to stow the gear inside the cabin and get her all set to put in the water.
Uncovering and Paint Prep
After several months of inactivity, it was great to finally uncover ORION today up at my folks’ house in Niantic and start getting her ready for the water.
Spring Work Has Begun
I replaced the stretched-out, crummy shock cord I used for my line hangers underneath the port side cockpit locker.
Rendezvous Article Published
The January/February, 2020 edition of WindCheck magazine just came out, and they published my article about the 2019 Mariner Class Association National Rendezvous!
Goodbye, MarinerSailors Yahoo! Group
The MarinerSailors Yahoo! group had become obsolete as all other Yahoo! groups had, and it’s only to be expected that Yahoo! would make the decision to no longer host user-created content on all of its Group sites starting last month.
Final 2019 Sailing Pictures
I added the last few pictures of this year’s sailing season. Besides little afternoon sails here and there, I had a great sail around Black Point and a final sail in the Niantic River with my father.
2019 Rendezvous Recap
I finally finished a write-up of the 2019 Rendezvous that happened back at the beginning of August! I wanted to be sure to get it completed while the event was still relatively fresh in my mind.
New Sailing 2019 Pictures
I added a couple new pictures to the 2019 Sailing page after a little trip to Turkey Point to go swimming with my family.
ORION Picture Gift
Steve Hock, a professional photographer, had sent me something, and it was waiting for me at my local CVS. When I went to pick it up, I was blown away.
2019 Rendezvous Pictures
148 pictures are now available at my 2019 Mariner Rendezvous Google photo album. Most of them were taken by me, but a number of them were taken by Steve Hock and sent to me so I could share them.
Farewell, Roger
Roger and I kept in touch throughout the years following the 2010 Rendezvous, and it was clear he certainly loved sailing his Stuart Mariner.
Two New Sailing Photos
We had front-row seats to a spectacular fireworks display with nine (!) people aboard ORION out in Niantic Bay.
New Photo Album and Sailing Pictures
There are eight new pictures posted on the 2019 Sailing Page, but for a whole lot more, check out the new Google Photo Album of the recent trip Liz, Harry and I took to Fisher’s Island and Turkey Point.
2019 Sailing Page Updated Again
I updated the 2019 Sailing page with a few more pictures after a leisurely sail in the Niantic River yesterday afternoon.
Update on #3449
I received a couple of nice e-mails from Eric Daniels of Frederick, Maryland who is the new owner of Mariner #3449 built in 1977. He has started tackling some projects and even used a 3D printer to make new Mariner logos to put on either side of the cabin!
2019 Sailing Page Updated
I updated the 2019 Sailing Page after a great sail last week to the Niantic Bay Yacht Club and another great sail just today to Jordan Cove.
#560 Cool Breeze
In its heyday, the MarinerClass Yahoo Group was a valuable resource, and I remember seeing postings by Steve Clark in Michigan of his beautiful Mariner, #560 COOL BREEZE.
New Sailing 2019 Page
I began a new Sailing 2019 page and added a couple of pictures taken last week to get things started. I plan to add many more as the weeks go by.
