Eight Years Since First Rendezvous

Eight years ago today, the Southeast Connecticut Mariner Fleet held its first Rendezvous in the Niantic River. At that time, it was just me, Dan Meaney (#2024 CLEW SEA NUF) with guest Chris Ely as crew, and Chris Albert (#2714 FLOTSAM). We had a great sail and even beached our boats for a lunch stop at Turkey Point up the left fork of the river. It was an overcast day, but the rain held off and we all had a great time. Who knew that these events would inspire so many other Mariner cruises and that, five years later, the Mariner Class Association would adopt an annual Mariner Rendezvous on the same level as their Mariner Championships?

Feel free to check out more pictures of that inaugural 2009 Rendezvous here.
