End of 2020 Sailing Season

This morning, ORION officially ended her 2020 sailing season. It was an absolutely rotten day, just like when she was launched back at the end of April, so I suppose it was only appropriate. I rowed out to ORION and motored her to the beach where her mast was unstepped and put away. I then motored her over to the Niantic River launch ramp and pulled her out of the water.

After bringing her back to Riverbank (my parents’ home originally built in 1783 and in my mother’s family the entire time), she was powerwashed and her outboard winterized. I finished cleaning out the cabin, got her ready for the highway, and drove back home. It sure is nice to have ORION inside one of my father-in-law’s garage bays again for the winter. Time to start on all her winter projects!
